How can I change image file name?

A friend has a Canon S3 Is and pictures used to be labeled such as %26quot;2009_06_27.jpeg%26quot; or something similar.

Now, we cannot figure out why the file names contain %26quot;New York%26quot; after the date.

Any ideas? How can I change image file name?i dont have a cannon.. but i have some programs that name files that the hardware creates.. usually you find a user prefereence in options somewhere where you can choose how you want your files named.. ie by date.. or date time.. or custom user option.. etc so check the camera software option menu's see if you can find options for naming new files.

or you can go in with windows explorer .. right click on each file.. and name it .. (but that's not exactly the most efficient way)How can I change image file name?As to why it happens automatically, I don't know. To change it, just right click on the picture and click on %26quot;Rename%26quot;.How can I change image file name?If you transferred the images from the camera to your computer using Windows Scanner and Camera Wizard, it asks you what filename you would like the images to have. A lot of times it automatically keeps the last filename you used for a previous set of pictures you transferred. Just an idea. To rename, do what the other guy said, or click on the filename of the image, then wait a couple seconds while it's selected, then click on the filename again. How can I change image file name? You have evidently used a program to copy the files from the camera to the computer which gave you the option of typing in a %26quot;description%26quot; of what the pictures were. Some of these programs don't reset themselves and the description stays there and will be used on all the pictures copied until you change it.
