i need to get the file name for my boss, the name cannot be changedHow do you get a file name greater than 256 character in windows?Your boss may have just run into something bigger than he or she. My kids father changed his last name legally w/out informing me or his children. We were married and divorced in California and I have sole physical and legal custody. I currently live in Georgia. I attempted to have their last name changed to my maiden name, which I use. However, in Georgia I need bio dads consent eventhough he doesn't have legal/physical custody. Is there anyway around this?

I don't want my children to have a last name that neither of their parents have, but their dad refuses to consent to them having my last name. Once I found out from a friend that he changed his last name months prior, he stated he wanted to change our kids last name to his new name too. However, I don't believe him b/c he never even told me or our kids that he was planning on having his name changed. I had to call him to find out the truth months after everything was finalized.

Their father still lives in California and he rarely visits or speaks to them over the phone. The same behavior occured when we all lived in California approximately 20-minutes away. I bring the kids to California to visit every summer and he never spends more than 3-days with them out of the 2-weeks that we are there. At the most, they may have an over night visit w/him 1 night out of all that time. I encourage him to spend more time, but everything else he has going on seems more important. He will not give me his address, and uses a PO Box when he does send something in the mail. He always sends money to care for our children each month, but he has never paid the court ordered amount. He simply gives whatever amount he wants to. When I took him to court, he quit his job so that he wouldn't have to pay the stated amount. Since then I've left the situation alone. Whenever he wants to see or talk to the children I allow it, and I accept whatever amount he chooses to give without filing any legal complaint. Therefore, under the circumstances I feel he should consent to them having my last name. I think he is being so selffish about our kids name by not allowing them to have my last name. If they can't have his new name they have to remain with his old name until they turn 18. When I list on school documents and stuff the names of their parents, it will appear as though they are adopted b/c we all have different last names.

Their father's reason for changing his name was b/c he believes it is cursed due to the meaning of the name, his unsuccessful life, and his father's side of the family. So he came up with a crazy last name for himself that has a worse meaning than his original last name. My last name, however has a strong positive meaning. I looked up the meanings of all of our last names since he stated that was his reason. He doesn't want them having my last name b/c I'm a woman and he says he's the head of them. Well, from his behavior it's hard to tell that he's even the father. At any rate, is there anyway around getting his consent? Can I file for the name change in California since that is where we were married, divorced, legal/physical custody was determined, and our children were born? You need to file the name change in the place the children reside, and you have to live by THEIR rules. That means you need the father's permission.

A gcf will be a gcf regardless of whether you rename the extension. If you change it to a .txt extension. Windows will probably think it's a text file and attempt to open it with notepad (or whatever text editor you use).

So, I arrive at the conclusion that the gcf you have is corrupt. If you have a valid account then this shouldn't be a problem. Just download a new gcf from steam's servers or extract one from the legal disc of purchase.

But then again, GCFLinkGrabber isn't widely used for legal purposes...

You can run regedit (if you know what you are doing) and search for the previous owner's name and change every instance to yours.

When I save a picture from the internet and want to change the name, it won't open and the icon on my desktop is just a blank page. I have downloaded avi.001 avi.002 etc files and by accident changed to .wmv file. i have changed name back to?

avi.001 avi.002 but this hasn't changed anything. The Icon is still a windows media player and file type is %26quot;video clip%26quot;. My husband and I spoke with my step-son's pediatrician regarding the name change prior to filing the motion with the courts. She did not see where it would have a lot of bearing on the child. His mother disagrees and says that we have no clue and neither did the pediatrician (cause she only sees him a few times a year). I spoke with my step-son's mother this evening and she said that since they told him that his last name was changing he has been terrible, acting out in school, being mean to his little sister. She said he did not want it changed (I had my last name 31 years before I got married and it was hard giving it up then). When he was on his visit this past weekend he was very indifferent to it aside that he had his mothers last name the last 7 years. - La Vie En Rose (%26lt;~~ a French Movie) [8.83GB]

Both are .iso files which are DVD rips.

I have encountered this problem in the past and it was usually because the file name was too long. Well.....that's not the case this time. I have tried changing the file name and I've also tried compressing the files before I copy and I get the same error.

I have other .iso DVD rips I have already copied to this hard drive, so I do not understand what is causing the problem for these two particular files.

the file name consists of basically 2 parts. the name followed by a period and the extension. changing the name - the part before the period is not a problem (as long as you don't use any reserved characters). however changing the extension or removing the period will alter how the operating system thinks of the file.

your original file - myfile.txt. this extension (txt) is typically associated with the program notepad

changed to - myfile.123. the extension 123 likely has no program associated with it.

if you change the file name to - myfile123.txt then notepad will open the file up normally

2 Cameras Same File Name Problem?

Here's my ordeal. We have 2 cameras, both by the same maker, Sony. And apparently, both cameras name their files the same way.

This is a problem because if we ever want to put the new camera's photos into a folder with some really old ones taken with the older camera, they can't coexist unless we rename one of them.

Is there a way to change the naming system altogether?

How do I delete a cookie that keeps changing its filename?

I don't understand how it is doing this. I just got the free version of Spyware Doctor today and I was cleaning up a lot of the spyware it found on my computer. In my cookies folder there is one cookie named 'default@go[2]' that keeps changing its name every ten seconds or so to 'default@go[1]'. I can sit here and watch it change intermittently. Windows won't let me delete the file because it doesn't recognize the filepath (I assume because the file changed names after i clicked delete). I've tried renaming the file myself, and then deleting it. I can delete the file when I do that, but in ten seconds it reappears. This is freaking me out. You'll need what's called a HEX Editor.

A Hex editor is pretty much just a Binary file editor.

The Icon doesn't necissarily need to be changed within a HEX editor if you're the only one wanting to see the file.

In this case, you'd be usinga an Icon changer.

(Or, make a shortcut of the program, go to properties %26gt; advanced %26gt; change icon)

However, you'll need full fledged HEX editor's for changing it completely.

Another thing you may need to know, is you cold possibly violate the ToS of the product you're using.

Read it first.

You need a HEX editor.

Some here wrote a %26quot;resource hacker.%26quot; And that would work, too, but differently. I, personally, prefer an old-fashioned HEX editor.

Either that, or you need the full source code and the appropriate compiler and linker and you can just modify said code and then re-compile and re-link.

Obviously, a HEX editor is easier...

...but more dangerous. If you don't know what you're doing, you will break the .EXE file, so make a backup.

And don't confuse a HEX editor with a SECTOR editor as so many knuckleheads do. You need a HEX editor. Period.

There are tons of them out there... many freeware. Just shop around until you find one you like.

Well, I'm trying to tidy up my hard drive and I noticed that some of my files have changed completely. I had a file containing a season of How I Met Your Mother copied onto my portable hard drive, and now noticed that season 1 has changed. I am unable to delete it as it says the file name is too long, and am unable to rename it so I can delete it. Going into properties of the folder, it says it's 505GB in size, but my portable hard drive is only 300GB capacity.
