How do you change song names and artists?

I downloaded some songs but occasionally there would be an error in the artist or song name itself. For example, %26quot;linkoln park - one step closer%26quot; instead of %26quot;Linkin Park - One Step Closer%26quot;. To correct the error I would simply change the name of the file to fix it but once I put it on something like, Windows Media Player or itunes it would immediately change back into its original name, completely ignoring the change I made to it. Artist Name\Album Name\track no-song title.wma

Since you ripped music using WMP probably this is what it did. To disable it:

* Open WMP options:

* Go to library tab

* Un-check %26quot;Rename music files using rip music settings%26quot;

* Un-check %26quot;Rearrange music in rip music folder using rip music settings%26quot;

Look for other similar options if any. These work in WMP11. I like this feature by the way.

My edit does, but it has been ages since I used KompoZer/NVU. Just check when you bring up the Find/Replace box.

To update on your site, you'll have to rename image folder and upload all files needing to be changed and overwrite the old ones. Be sure to verify locally that paths are working first.

I don't want my children to have a last name that neither of their parents have, but their dad refuses to consent to them having my last name. Their father still lives in California and he rarely visits or speaks to them over the phone. The same behavior occured when we all lived in California approximately 20-minutes away. I bring the kids to California to visit every summer and he never spends more than 3-days with them out of the 2-weeks that we are there. At the most, they may have an over night visit w/him 1 night out of all that time. I encourage him to spend more time, but everything else he has going on seems more important. He will not give me his address, and uses a PO Box when he does send something in the mail. He always sends money to care for our children each month, but he has never paid the court ordered amount. He simply gives whatever amount he wants to. When I took him to court, he quit his job so that he wouldn't have to pay the stated amount. Since then I've left the situation alone. Whenever he wants to see or talk to the children I allow it, and I accept whatever amount he chooses to give without filing any legal complaint. Therefore, under the circumstances I feel he should consent to them having my last name. I think he is being so selffish about our kids name by not allowing them to have my last name. If they can't have his new name they have to remain with his old name until they turn 18. When I list on school documents and stuff the names of their parents, it will appear as though they are adopted b/c we all have different last names.

Their father's reason for changing his name was b/c he believes it is cursed due to the meaning of the name, his unsuccessful life, and his father's side of the family. So he came up with a crazy last name for himself that has a worse meaning than his original last name. My last name, however has a strong positive meaning. I looked up the meanings of all of our last names since he stated that was his reason. He doesn't want them having my last name b/c I'm a woman and he says he's the head of them. Well, from his behavior it's hard to tell that he's even the father. At any rate, is there anyway around getting his consent? When I save a picture from the internet and want to change the name, it won't open and the icon on my desktop is just a blank page. I have downloaded avi.001 avi.002 etc files and by accident changed to .wmv file. i have changed name back to?

avi.001 avi.002 but this hasn't changed anything. The Icon is still a windows media player and file type is %26quot;video clip%26quot;. I spoke with my step-son's mother this evening and she said that since they told him that his last name was changing he has been terrible, acting out in school, being mean to his little sister. She said he did not want it changed (I had my last name 31 years before I got married and it was hard giving it up then). When he was on his visit this past weekend he was very indifferent to it aside that he had his mothers last name the last 7 years. In essence, you will want a script that lets you rename the files to something new, then renames back with the appropriate case.

So for a single file, you'd go something like this:

- La Vie En Rose (%26lt;~~ a French Movie) [8.83GB]

Both are .iso files which are DVD rips.

I have encountered this problem in the past and it was usually because the file name was too long. Well.....that's not the case this time. I have tried changing the file name and I've also tried compressing the files before I copy and I get the same error.

I have other .iso DVD rips I have already copied to this hard drive, so I do not understand what is causing the problem for these two particular files.

I saved over (over-written) an original file (Word 2007) without changing the file name first and would like to retrieve the original. I feel there should be some way of doing this that isn't too difficult but do not know how to do this.

the only way which might even come close is if you try a deleted files recovery like glary utilites or recuva and find all the 'lost' bits and try to make files out of them and open them in word, but you will find so much more and more work than simply rewriting the orignal.

You probably are not showing the file type, so when, for instance, you list a photo that is in a .jpg format, all you see is the name, not the extension.

Take a file named: %26quot;photo.jpg%26quot;

All you see is the part %26quot;photo%26quot;. You do not see the %26quot;.jpg%26quot; part, which is part of the file name, just hidden from view.

So, if you want to change the name to %26quot;myphoto%26quot;, you cannot just use that. The entire name is %26quot;photo.jpg%26quot;, so you must change the name to %26quot;myphoto.jpg%26quot;

the file name consists of basically 2 parts. the name followed by a period and the extension. changing the name - the part before the period is not a problem (as long as you don't use any reserved characters). however changing the extension or removing the period will alter how the operating system thinks of the file.

example

your original file - myfile.txt. this extension (txt) is typically associated with the program notepad

changed to - myfile.123. the extension 123 likely has no program associated with it.

if you change the file name to - myfile123.txt then notepad will open the file up normally

hope that helps.How can i rename a file without it saying it may be unuseable?Probably because if you right clicked on it down to rename and then started typing over you wiped out the suffix so it doesnt know what program to open with. Rename again and if it is a word doc add in .doc at the end, if Excel, .xls etc (pre 2007 versions)
