How do I change computer file names?

I'm not talking about renaming them, I know how to do that. But on my new computer that my mom set up for me, she used her name instead of my name. So now when I view files it says her name instead of my name in the files. Is there a way I could change that? If it makes a difference my computer uses Vista.

I was thinking if I just created another account and transferred all the data from one account to the other it would work. But I want to be sure. How do I change computer file names?if you create another account it will just copy all your files twice, and take up more memory. Best thing to do is go in to the start bar click where it states the name , you'll be able to change the name on the account that way. You could also go into MY COMPUTER and adjust it that way as well. How do I change computer file names?you have 2 choices either A) change the account name that is currently hers or B) create a new account with your name. either way you need to log in with an account that has admin rights (most likely the one you are using now does) then go to the control panel and go to user accounts. there you can do all sorts of things like create an account or modify an existing one. hope that helps you some. if you need more info just edit your post and i will try to help!

oh there is a third choice create a new account and delete the old account but then you will lose all the data on the account you are using now... likewise when you create the new account it will not have all the things saved to it that your present account has in it's profile (i.e. desktop shortcuts and files and my documents) but you can copy those over if you'd like! How do I change computer file names?Log out and open a new profile with your name on it.
