NEED HELP!! trying to change song file name from .mp3 to .mmf, but .mp3..?

im trying to change the song from (song.mp3) to (song.mmf)... the problem is that when i go to change the name of the song file on my desktop the (.mp3) isnt there, it just says the song name, it didnt look like this(song.mp3) its just said (song).. i need the icon file on my desktop to look like this (song.mp3) so that i can delete the (.mp3) and change it to (.mmf) so i can send it to my phone and use it as my ringtone. weird thing is that it was showing up the first few time i did it and then all of a sudden it stopped showing up.. im using a windows vista by the way... anybody know how i can get it show again??.. thanksNEED HELP!! trying to change song file name from .mp3 to .mmf, but .mp3..?You can't just change the file extension and expect it to change to the new audio file type. You need to download an audio encoder and change the encoding to the type you want.
