How do I change the name of a "my documents" file in Windows XP?

I have just received at work a laptop from a former employee. The file is something like %26quot;documents and settings/mydocuments/kim/__%26quot;. I want to change the %26quot;kim%26quot; portion to my name but the computer won't permit the change. How do I change the name of a %26quot;my documents%26quot; file in Windows XP?It sounds as though you are logging on as Kim. When you get started at work, you should be given a username/password that is personal to you. When you first log on on the network , XP will create a folder in Docs %26amp; settings with your username. This will be repeated if you sign on to a different machine. Inside that folder will be standard folders like desktop, my documents, etc etc. If you have administrator rights you can copy files from other users folders, assuming they are not password protected, into your own folder.

If the machine is not on a domain, (Right click my computer, left click properties, left click computer name look for Domain or Group), then you will need to create your own local user name and password. click start, control panel, user accounts and follow your nose. Make sure you choose administrator. If you are on a Domain then the IT body needs to set you up with an account

Extra hint. Make sure your personal folders in outlook and any other important files are backed up to the server otherwise when your laptop dies any files stored on the laptop will die with it.How do I change the name of a %26quot;my documents%26quot; file in Windows XP?You want to change the documents and settings/mydocuments/kim/....kim here or you want to change the mydocument to your name?..any how here the both..
