How do I edit the icon, title and design elements of an .exe file?

I had a small exe file created by a freelancer and I cannot get back in touch with him. I just want to change the name of the exe (not the file name, what it says across the top bar when the exe file is open).



I also want to edit some text on one of the buttons. What is a good program to use that will allow me to easily make these edits?How do I edit the icon, title and design elements of an .exe file?Anyone who've said 'properties' has no clue what they're saying.

Properties shows the object/programs initial values.

For example; the properties of Sony Vegas may show 980MB~ Depending on the version.

(Size is one parameter).



You'll need what's called a HEX Editor.

A Hex editor is pretty much just a Binary file editor.

It will allow you to manipulate Binary.

The Icon doesn't necissarily need to be changed within a HEX editor if you're the only one wanting to see the file.

In this case, you'd be usinga an Icon changer.

(Or, make a shortcut of the program, go to properties %26gt; advanced %26gt; change icon)

However, you'll need full fledged HEX editor's for changing it completely.



Another thing you may need to know, is you cold possibly violate the ToS of the product you're using.

Read it first.

At MOST, %26quot;properties%26quot; can foce an icon from a different program to display for the .exe file's shortcut. But the questioner is asking FAR more than that!





You need a HEX editor.



Some here wrote a %26quot;resource hacker.%26quot; And that would work, too, but differently. I, personally, prefer an old-fashioned HEX editor.



Either that, or you need the full source code and the appropriate compiler and linker and you can just modify said code and then re-compile and re-link.



Obviously, a HEX editor is easier...



...but more dangerous. If you don't know what you're doing, you will break the .EXE file, so make a backup.



And don't confuse a HEX editor with a SECTOR editor as so many knuckleheads do. You need a HEX editor. Period.



There are tons of them out there... many freeware. Just shop around until you find one you like.
