HOWEVER! Should you have disabled the option to hide known file types, (under Tools -%26gt; Folder Options -%26gt; View tab) you have to make sure you keep the extension on the file, for example:
.mp3
.midi
.wav
.wma
Should you forget the extension, in most situations, the system will not recognize the file and you would have to manually enter in the correct extension (choosing the wrong one could prevent you from running the file, depending on the software) or manually tell it what to Open With.
